Policies & Procedures

Registration & Payment

To register for a class, camps, birthday party, or to book an in-person backyard class or private lesson, send an email to info@youngatartworkshop.com. Please include the following: your name, your child's name, your child's age, and the class you want to enroll in or the dates you want to book.

Payment in full is required to reserve a spot for a class or to reserve dates for private lessons or backyard classes. In most cases, classes must be booked in 6-week sessions.

If you are booking a camp week that is 2 months or more in advance, you can pay $50 to reserve the dates, rather than pay in full upfront. The full payment must be received at least a week before camp begins.

To reserve a date for a birthday party, a nonrefundable deposit of $50 must be made. You will receive an invoice for the remainder of the payment within 24 hours after the party. Prompt payment is appreciated. Our staff greatly appreciate gratuity in cash, though no gratuity is required.

Young at Art will send you an email invoice with a link to pay by credit card or bank transfer. You can also pay by check, payable to Young at Art Studio Inc. Please email info@youngatartworkshop.com for the correct address to mail a check.

Prices increased slightly for the Fall 2021 season; however, we are no longer charging a 3% fee to pay by credit card.

Sibling Discount

We provide a sibling discount of 10% off the total bill when siblings are enrolled in classes at the same time. The discount is not available for private lessons or classes with 3 or fewer students. It cannot be used for cousins. It is not available for classes or camps that are conducted at other organizations, except in a few rare cases where Young at Art is in charge of enrollment for the class or camp.

Trial Classes

We do not offer free trials. Paid trials are available for the first class in a session so parents can assess how their child does in the class and if they want to sign up for the session. They are not available for classes or camps run by or at other organizations. Students may only do a paid trial once.

Class Cancellations

If a class or camp must be canceled due to bad weather, illness, or any other reason, the teacher will attempt to find another date and time to reschedule the class. If the class can be done online, that is an option as well. If the class cannot be rescheduled in person or online, a refund or credit will be made for the cost of the class or classes missed.

Substitute Teachers

Due to our limited number of staff and high demand, we are rarely able to provide substitute teachers when a teacher cannot make class. However, if a substitute is available, we will offer that option.

Refunds & Credits

A fee of $10 will be deducted from all refunds to cover the processing costs.

Refunds will only be issued if a request is made via email within 2 weeks of the date the class was missed. Refunds and credits for missed classes can only be made once in a 6-month period.

Refunds may be granted for the following reasons only: a positive COVID test for the participant or someone in their household; a severe or highly contagious illness; a severe injury, like a broken arm; or a traumatic event.

If YAA closes and is unable to continue offering classes in person and online, for any reason, it may not honor any credit, make-ups, or refunds that are owed. We will do our best to issue refund checks in a timely manner and schedule make-up classes quickly to avoid this from happening.

Make-up Classes

Make-up classes are only scheduled if a class was canceled, and the teacher is able to reschedule the class at a time that is suitable for all students. Make-ups cannot be done for individuals who have missed a class, as each class is unique and has preset lesson plans for that group.

COVID Precautions

The YAA teacher will wear a mask at all times. He or she will check his/her temperature before each class. He or she will wash his/her hands or use hand sanitizer as frequently as possible. Whenever possible, the teacher will maintain a distance of 3-feet or more from students.

All materials are sanitized between classes. Teachers will encourage children to use hand sanitizer or wash hands frequently when sharing supplies.

The teacher will cancel class if he or she feels ill or has any symptoms of COVID or has been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID. If a teacher or someone in his/her household tests positive for COVID, all families will be notified, and the teacher will quarantine for the number of days required by the CDC.

For private classes held outside, we prefer but do not require students to wear masks. If the class was set up by a host family, it is up to them to decide if the children must wear masks while at their home. If classes are held indoors, we do require that all participants wear a mask during class. We will encourage students to maintain a distance of 3-feet from each other whenever possible, unless they are siblings.

For public classes held indoors or outside, we require that all participants wear masks. We will encourage students to maintain a distance of 3-feet from each other whenever possible unless they are siblings.

If your child feels ill or has any symptoms of COVID, do not send them to class until all symptoms are gone. If your child or anyone in your household tests positive for COVID or they have come in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID, do not send your child to class until they are clear of all symptoms and have been quarantined for the recommended number of days by the CDC.

If a child or teacher attends class and then finds out that they or someone in their household has tested positive for COVID or they have been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID, all families in that class will be notified.

If you are hosting a class at your house and you or any member of your household is ill, has symptoms of COVID, or tested positive for COVID, you must inform Young at Art immediately. All students will be notified, and classes will be canceled until the CDC recommended period of quarantine has passed. Classes will be rescheduled if possible or a refund for the missed classes will be made to all students.
