Young at Art has art classes for children of all ages and adults in lower Westchester. Our studio is in Scarsdale, New York. We have mommy and me classes for preschool children and toddlers. Our after school and Saturday classes include creative art, painting, sketching, drawing, still life, sculpture, mixed media, Anime and Manga, cartooning, graffiti, pop art, portraiture, fashion design, 3-dimensional art, and portfolio development. We offer summer camps, private lessons, holiday workshops, birthday parties, and customized classes. If you have a suggestion for a class you would like to see, please let us know. We also work in local schools and preschools to provide on-site classes.
Our mission is to foster self-esteem and confidence in every child who attends our classes and camps by helping them express their innate and unique creativity. We do this by creating a safe, nurturing space and offering encouragement and positive feedback. We provide our students with a wide variety of materials, a large open space, and friendly, caring guidance. We attempt to remove as many obstacles as possible to the creative process and assist each child in fulfilling their artistic vision. We are able to give each child one-on-one attention due to our low student-teacher ratio of 6:1. All our teachers have degrees in fine art or education and have years of experience teaching children. We believe that the process of making art and the exploration of self-expression is more important for children than the end product.
Art-making is messy. We allow children to get fully immersed in their artwork in a way they cannot do at home or school. Therefore, we encourage all participants to dress for mess.
