Group Classes at Greenburgh Parks & Recreation

Classes are held during the academic year in 6-week sessions.
Registration for Fall classes is open now. Classes begin in October.

Young at Art is running in-person group classes through the Greenburgh Parks & Recreation Department. All classes are held in a spacious, well-ventilated room at Greenburgh Parks & Recreation, 11 Olympic Lane, Ardsley, NY 10502 (where the Greenburgh pool is). Classes are being kept small so that students can maintain a 6-foot+ distance from each other. Classes are expected to sell out quickly, so register early. Registration must be done through the Greenburgh Parks & Recreation website.

  • Grades 3-5 Art - Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30

  • Grade K & PreK (4-6) Art - Tuesdays, 4:00-5:00

  • 2-5-year-olds, Parent-child art class - Wednesdays, 4:00-5:00

COVID-19 Precautions being followed:

  • All staff and students must wear masks at all times.

  • Staff and students will practice hand washing/hand sanitizing upon arrival, between activities, and before leaving.

  • Students will have work stations that are at least 6 feet apart.

  • Bathroom breaks will be one child at a time.

  • Class is limited to 10 children max.

  • Temperatures will be taken upon arrival.

  • 2-5-year-olds, Parent-child classes

    Day & Time: Wednesdays 4-5 pm

    Dates: October 6, 13, 20, 27, November 3, 10

    Resident fee - $190; non-resident fee - $228

    Instructor: Jen Kaplan

    Class description: A caregiver is required to participate in this class. We focus on learning shapes and colors and experiment with paint, glue, collage, texture, cutting, and building. Projects and themes may include toy making, animals, musical instruments, masks, and play food.

  • Grades K & Pre-K

    Day & Time: Tuesdays 4-5 pm

    Dates: October 5, 12, 19, 26, November 9, 16

    Resident fee - $190; non-resident fee - $228

    Instructor: Ashley Veselis

    Class description: This class combines a variety of art forms including painting, color-mixing, sculpting, collage, gluing, cutting, sewing, weaving, drawing, and building. Children enhance fine motor skills and learn to collaborate. They explore the world from an artist’s point of view and express their innate creativity. Projects may include making puppets, collages, creating patterns, making an aquarium or snow globe, and designing flying creatures.

    Instructor: Ashley Veselis

    Class description: Children in this class learn contemporary artist styles. They are exposed to new media and techniques, such as acrylics, alcohol ink, fabric art, layering, one-point perspective, the use of light and dark, and mixing hue. Children work with paper, canvas, metal, wood, fabric, plaster, clay, and found objects. They are encouraged to find their own muse and develop their style.
