Students work on their ability to create three-dimensional form in two-dimensional artwork on paper, using charcoal, pencil, marker, pen, pastels, and other media. They learn how to manipulate line, shape, color, space, and texture, in order to render realistic objects and scenes. They learn shading and the use of color, light and shadow. Students discover compositional strategies and ways of analyzing their artistic choices so that they may become more aware of their own creative process and develop the skills necessary to produce thoughtful, personal artwork.
Projects include still life, portraits, figure drawing, landscape, and abstract art. The focus of this class is to improve students' skills. No experience is required. Students will be pushed to excel at their own rate. Each student will receive individual attention and instruction.
