Cartooning, Manga & Beginning Illustration
Instructor: David Limpel
This course will explore important elements of cartooning: developing characters, drawing in ink, background basics, writing, graphic storytelling, panel and page composition. The goal will be to truly understand a solid well developed character, basically bring it to life and present it in a world fully created from the student’s imagination. Students will produce character sheets, develop storylines, and complete a full color illustration.
Even though we will look for inspiration in the works of others and study successful characters throughout comic and illustration history, the purpose of this class is for the student to find the confidence to believe in their own work.
The class will focus on confidence and self-esteem building for the young artists along with having a great deal of fun at the same time.
