More than just an art class.

Basic Drawing

Basic Drawing

In this class, students learn the elements of fine art - line, shape, color, form, space, value, and texture. They build a foundation in drawing and gain a new way to view the world around them. They learn how to draw what they see and not just to draw from their imagination, although both concepts are valued. Children learn proportionality and one point perspective. They begin to learn shading, light, and shadow. Students draw faces, bodies, animals, still life, optical illusions, and scenery. The class is mainly taught using pencil. We will sometimes add color with pastels, colored pencil, art markers, or watercolors. The class offes a mix of different drawing styles in addition to basic drawing, including cartooning, Japanese Manga, and street art.
